The William J. Shaw Memorial Prize for Poetry is named for a beloved professor of the literary arts from Northwestern Michigan College. The contest is held annually, and is open to all poets residing north of the Grayling line. The deadline for contest submissions is 15 October. Prizes for the first three places are $100, $50 & $25 and publication in the winter edition of the Dunes Review. Poets may submit up to three poems of no more than forty lines each. Poems should be emailed to
dunes.review@yahoo.com. Please include a cover letter listing your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, poem titles, and a short bio. Your contact information should NOT appear directly on the poems. Mail the $10 entry fee separately to: Michigan Writers, P.O. Box 1505, Traverse City, MI 49685. Include a note with your name and the titles of your poems. Do NOT mail hard copies of submissions. All contestants will receive a complimentary back issue.
