Big news! Cooperative Press winners and Dunes Review reading

Note: This has been revised to give the correct date for the Cooperative Press chapbook reading.

Jan. 26, 2008

Dear Members:

We're pleased to announce that the jurors for the Cooperative Press have selected poetry collections by three local poets for publication this spring. Our winning authors are Leigh Fairey, Holly Wren Spaulding, and Catherine Turnbull. We'll get back to you with more information about a reading and book signing on April 10 in Interlochen.

Congratulations to our winners and a big thanks to everyone who submitted their work. The jurors were delighted to have so many fine manuscripts to choose from. Remember: the Cooperative Press will keep publishing so you need to keep writing! The contest is open to works in all literary genres and to anyone who hasn't previously published a literary book.

Many of our members have been published in the winter issue of the Dunes Review, on its way to readers a little later than usual due to a publication delay. Writers published in the Dunes Review will read from their works on Thursday, January 31, at Horizon Books at 7:00pm. We'd love to see you there!

In other news, long-time board member Kathy Firestone has resigned due to family obligations. Thanks, Kathy, for all your help over the years. If any of you are interested in serving on the board please contact Ann Bardens-McClellan (annietom@Centurytel.net). We'll vote on new directors at our annual meeting/potluck in April. We're also looking for help with other jobs that keep the organization running, such as distribution of the Dunes Review. If you have some time to spare, please contact Aaron Stander (aaronstander@aol.com).

Bundle up and come out Thursday night to support good writers and good writing!
