Trinna Frever
Trinna S. Frever is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from the University of Michigan, and master’s and doctoral degrees in English from Michigan State University, specializing in American literature. She is also a member of Mensa. Her current intellectual interest lies in the way different artistic expressions --painting, music, dance, film, architecture, and oral storytelling-- intersect formally and aesthetically with literature. This pursuit, also termed “intermedia theory,” flows into both her scholarly research and creative writing.
A Michigan native, Frever has taught at a variety of Michigan schools, including Wayne State University, Alma College, Mott Community College, and her alma maters, the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Between semesters, she spends as much time as possible at the beach, favoring a morning at Leelanau’s North Bar Lake, followed by a nice lunch in Empire or Glen Arbor. Frever shares a love of reading with her nieces and nephews, with whom she spends much time reading aloud. Some of her favorite books include Willa Cather’s My Antonia, Rudolfo Anaya’s Bless Me, Ultima, and the Harry Potter series thus far. She lives in Birmingham, Michigan, with her cat.
